The fourth annual “Sabor de Baja,” End of Summer, White Affair, is a friendly culinary competition among 20 of the best chefs of Baja, paired with the finest wines and artisanal beer producers.

Ticket includes access to all food and wine,live entertainment and a commemorative wine glass.

The intent of the Sabor de Baja is to promote gastronomy and tourism between the U.S. and Baja. Each attendee will be able to taste a pairing of the chefs creations together with the wine or beer producers. There are two main awards given that night: The first is decided by a panel of distinguished judges and the second is called the “People’s Choice” which is decided by popular voting from every attendee who submits a ballot.

Congratulation the Sabor De Baja 2016 winners, Chef Omar Armas Gomez from the Restaurant Mantou Gastropub (Ensenada) and Vinicola Corona Del Valle. Their pairing impressed all our judges, it was a unanimous decision.  Smoked duck carpaccio paired with Sauvignon Blanc.

The competition was once again fierce, but our guests were happy to pick their favorite. The people’s choice award of Sabor De Baja 2016 is restaurant Chabert at the Rosarito Beach Hotel paired with Claudius Vinos y Bodega from Rosarito.
Congratulation on such a delicious pairing and we look forward to seeing you again at Sabor De Baja 2017!

Congratulation to chef Mario Peralta from Fuego Restaurant for winning 2nd place at this year’s Sabor De Baja with a wonderful dish that was paired with Vinicola Montaño Benson.  Roasted pork tenderloin paired with Petit Barbera.

One of the most memorable and unique flavors at last night’s event was by chef Surinder Veer Singh Ortega, and Indian Mexican fusion that got everybody talking about his dish and the beer he chose to pair with.
He served chicken liver curry sope with, purslane leaves, diced potatoes, a spicy ripe mango pickle, yogurth, cherry tomatoe and cilantro micro-green.
Sope de Higado de Pollo al curry con verdolagas, papa rossett en cubos, curtido de mango verde enchiloso, yogurt, tomate cherry y brotes de cilantro.
Maridado con una cerveza artesanal Doble Ipa con Pirul.
Paired with a double IPA with Pirule by Compass Ales Brewery.
