Editor’s note: with tourism down, the freshness of the fish at the downtown market has been questionable the past few years. So it is good to read about spiffing up the image. Some tourists have been known to bring a 1 kilo weight to test the scales. I’m interested in finding the freshest fish available to experiment on my guests.
Ensenada, BC, El Vigia article – The image and presentation of the facilities of the “Black Market”(mercado negro), which sold seafood in Ensenada, has improved by upgrading the hardware counters of over 40 tenants.
With an investment of 1.2 billion pesos for the purchase of these tables, which are delivered to the tenants of the seafood market, it has been a radical change and health.
According to state authorities, the delivery of the tables is to improve the image of the traditional supply center of seafood.
Gabler Alfonso Diaz, leader of the “Black Market”, said the delivery of the tables is a compromise that became the State Government, which play an anticipated project for many years.
He said the commitment of traders, in exchange for support of the BC SEPESCA to manufacture and install stainless steel counters, was that they renew floors, ceilings, cabinets and facade.
“The project shows a great advance, and soon will deliver the remaining counters, once they complete the work in cabinets and floors of some premises,” he said.
The head of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Baja California (SepescaBC), Carlos Fernandez Ruiz, said that after a year of dialogue in that market led Governor Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millan, SEPESCA BC has delivered almost all counters stainless steel.
He toured the premises where he observed a new image in ceilings, floors, shelves and counters, which benefits families merchants and consumers.
“Citizens can see a new face, more hygienic and more comfortable, and all that through the efforts of tenants who have worked in coordination with the authorities,” he explained.
